Sights in Lefkada island of Greece

Lefkada combines the beauty of the landscape with its rich cultural heritage,attracting the visitors.

Among the sights which worth a visit are the castle of Agia Mavra,which is a fortress in northeast of the city, the ruins of the ancient city Nirikos ,the historic Monastery of Faneromeni, which is the religious center of the island, the remains of cyclopean walls in place Kouloumos, the last in use Saltmarshes of Lefkada, in Karyotes, the region of Raxh, with the gorge of Dimosari where small impetuous waterfalls are shaped, the Ellomeneio Museum in Neohori with folklore, the Folklore Museum of Karya, the church of Agios Ioannis in Rodaki, the Choirospilia where the excavations of Nterpfelnt have revealed ancient settlements and the cave of 'Papanikoli' in Meganissi, which the homonymous submarine found shelter during World War II.
